Voor Abbey door het vuur!
Dat in Olst mensen voor hun dieren door het vuur willen gaan blijkt uit het verhaal van Abbey. Met de klacht dat ze niet lekker in haar vel zat en haar eten moeizaam at werd ze bij ons aangeboden. Onderzoek leerde dat er steentjes in haar urinewegen vast zaten. Niet in de blaas maar vooral ook hogerop: in de nieren en urineleiders. Eén van de nieren was letterlijk opgeblazen omdat er een steentje klem zat in de afvoer. Code rood! In het Medisch Centrum voor Dieren in Amsterdam hebben knappe collega’s een zogenaamde ‘ureter by-pass’ aangelegd. Een slangetje dat in de nier, onder de huid naar de blaas is getunneld. In de 20 jaar dat ik in de praktijk werk heb ik dit nog nooit mee gemaakt. Respect voor de collega’s en de eigenaren die voor Abbey door het vuur zijn gegaan!
